Why do you want to train?
What’s the deepest driving factor? Is it because you want to be just generally healthy or fit? Well that’s not good enough. Dig deeper.
Maybe you play sports and you want to finally win a competition.
Maybe you want to finally complete that City2Surf mini marathon.
Or is it because you want to run around with your kids and play sports without feeling completed gassed.
Or just simply you want to look like a Greek god naked!
I don’t care what it is - but you have to figure out exactly why you want to train and become fit and healthy.
And it has to be deeper than just ‘I want to become more fit and healthy’. I guarantee that you will lose motivation and fall off the wagon.
I train because
Keep it simple. Keep it short and sweet.
If you are finding it hard to get the motivation to get up and go train, then making things more complicated is not going to help your cause.
Allow your training to be easily accessible.
Do not join a gym that is 30 minutes away - you will not drive there to train consistently.
Maybe there is a gym close to work or home or between commutes.
Join a gym with all your friends to keep each other accountable.
Find a simple workout regime or exercise program. Nothing too complicated, especially at the beginning as you are trying to build a habit.
Keep the workouts between 30 - 40 minutes tops.
For me, my gym is 5 minutes from home. I go there as soon as I come from work. I change and leave. If I stay home any longer - I know I will get lazy and postpone it.
My exercise programs are so simple yet so effective.
I spend a maximum of 60 minutes exercising. People often ask me ‘are you already done?’.
Yes, I’ve had a very effective workout and I don’t need to be there any longer.
Keep yourself accountable. Your word is iron. Unbreakable (Cobra Tate)
After hearing Andrew (Cobra) Tate speak of this, it made perfect sense. Sometimes you don’t want to tell people you are doing something to be discreet or to surprise them.
However in this case, it is ALWAYS better to let someone know, whether it be your partner, friends or colleagues that you will be training 3-4 days per week.
Once you put it out to the world, it must be done. Why - because you are an Alpha. Your word is all you’ve got. Otherwise you will be just another shit talker. Your words will lose value. Use this fear as a motivator to get up and start training.
Fear of losing something is a far greater motivation than the pleasure of gaining something.
Start with just one of the above tips and you will see the result unfold in front of you. I will say this time and time again, KEEP IT SIMPLE. Do not get fancy, start with one change at a time and results WILL come.
Also don’t be afraid to reach out to me if you need that external help, that extra drive, an injection of motivation and the accountability.
Stay motivated,
Mith
